Wedding Invitation

So we got our invitations printed! This is what they look like, except that I didn't want to post all our personal information on a public blog, so there's some black stuff to hide it. There's obviously not on the real invitations :)

We also have these registry inserts:

Wedding plans continue

Well, I ordered a lot of candy! 10 lbs of white buttermints, shown next to a water bottle for perspective:
10 lbs of lollipops and 5 lbs of mini-jawbreakers. Again with the water bottle. :)
And then, about 250 of these little bubble tubes for the send off!

About colors...

When we first started discussing wedding colors, Chris was immediately like "I like purple and orange." Given that he's normally indecisive and often unaware of color schemes, I was a little surprised. I didn't think I'd realy have to consult him on the colors. I love people who make their weddings all summery, bright, happy, and orange, but I don't picture our wedding like that, and I have really never wanted orange as a wedding color. So we compromised, and kept the purple and decided on cream for the other color.

Today, I decided to change the layout of the blog. It used to be "my" blog, and it was all pink and had only a picture of me. Now that it's "our" blog, I decided it might be time to move away from pink and put a picture of us up. I finally decided on this orange/yellow one, remembering how much he'd wanted orange as a wedding color, and then I showed him the change. Know what he said?

"Aw, I liked the pink!"

Pizza: Chris happy.

Last night, Chris and I went to a pizza buffet about 15 minutes before it closed. About 15 minutes after it closed (just as we were getting really full), they brought TAKE OUT BOXES! To us. I don't know if this is something they usually do or not, but they were like, yeah, take the food home. No, no extra cost. We're cleaning up for the night.

Chris was pretty excited. Here's our boxes lined up on his car.
This one was his main one. I tried to stuff as much pizza as possible into it.
This one was mine. I didn't want as much as he did.
I honestly have not seen him this giddy in...ever. He kept squeaking. It was really funny!

Last week: 0 posts. Also, engagement pictures.

I definitely didn't meet my quota last week of 2 posts per week. I had 0 posts! Hopefully, I will make up for it this week.

Anyway, here's some engagement pictures. Yay!

Clothing swap

I assume you've probably seen one of these before. I was one of these today. I deliberated very little between sweatpants and jeans this morning before deciding to just go with the more comfortable option. Once I got to school, I remembered the graduate students in our program were supposed to have lunch with the distinguished Dr. Usiskin, a leading curriculum development researcher in our field. And I was wearing sweatpants.

I tried to go buy jeans at the bookstore, but they cost $52, and that's $52 I didn't want to spend to go have lunch...even if it was a unique opportunity. Lunch was in 15 minutes. Luckily, I ran right into my friend Jenny, who was on the phone with her father. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Jenny! Where are you going?
Jenny: Law school (she's in law school), why?
Me: Do you need jeans to go to law school?
Jenny: Huh?
Me: Switch pants with me, I need your pants!!!!!!!
Jenny: Can I call you back, Dad? My friend needs a ... favor.
So we found a bathroom, swapped pants, and I went and had lunch with Dr. Usiskin, who proceeded to NOT tell us anything about math education, but talked a LOT about his family history. He's written an entire textbook-sized book of his family history, including pictures, dates, stories, etc. and told us lots of fun stories.

This was not what I expected.

Also, he's not LDS. He's Jewish. And really cool. I did get to see his lecture at 4, and for that hour he did talk about math education. Oh, and I swapped back my pants with Jenny, although she seemed reluctant to give up the comfy sweatpants. I almost let her keep them.

...

In sum, today I learned from my experiences with Dr. Zalman Usiskin:

-Family history is cool, and I should be doing it
-The studies that point out that the USA is math-stupid don't tell the whole story
-Wear pants to school. Pants that are more formal than sweatpants.

Registered!

Just a quick update: Chris and I registered at Walmart today! We chose Walmart as one of the stores because a lot of our friends are students. We'll probably do Bed, Bath, and Beyond for our other store (linens and some kitchen gadgets, mostly).

WEDDDINNNGGG!!! PLANNNSSS!!

I feel like my whole life has been taken over by wedding plans. Luckily, I actually enjoy planning our wedding. Unluckily, I enjoy it more than working on my thesis :( I have to be disciplined!

We booked a caterer and reserved a place for the reception. Our food is going to be amazing! We've also booked the temple - Timpanogos at 11am. The reception is going to be at my current ward building from 6:30-8:30pm. We also booked the honeymoon... every little piece of it, and there are a lot of pieces!

We ordered the cake topper! Cute huh?

And these are going to be the bridesmaid dresses. Except I plan to replace the sash with an ivory/cream sash and get ivory/cream tank tops to wear under so the neck doesn't go so low.

I'm also toying around with wedding cakes. There's one below this that we're thinking of as a prototype. Chris likes it and so do I... but I'd like each tier to have a different texture, so I ordered some texture mats from this site. I ordered Dot Explosion Texture Mat, Whimsy Swirl Texture Mat, and Flower Fun Texture Mat, and I plan to get a diamond texture mat from somewhere else (that gives the "quilted" look). At least, that is assuming we have a 4-tier cake, which we probably will since we plan to serve it to our guests without supplemental sheet cakes. :)

P.S. Can you tell I edited the photo of the cake? All the purple used to be hot pink.
